Ive just moved into an existing 2 storey unit. ive plugged in my TPG modem into the bedroom phone line and nothing. There is a Telstra plate on the kitchen wall but i can see the building sarking behind it. Its empty. Im thinking there are no cables attached to the building. Apparently i am on FTTN. Im just lost what to do next as i need internet and VOIP for work.

Majority of older unit blocks and houses classified the kitchen wall socket as the main socket (as its directly fed from the NBN box outside) to plug your telephone or NBN router/modem into. Seeing the sarking behind the socket means the socket is broken and the phone line is probably hanging inside the wall, you just can't see it.
The bedroom socket is not working as its fed from the main kitchen socket.
Best method is engaging a private technician for attempting to locate the wires behind the wall, or perhaps install new cabling from the buildings MDF to your bedroom or kitchen.
Of course, after the line is located or installed, ask the technician to install a new socket in your preferred location to get your TPG NBN connection up and going.
